Breakfast with Santa holiday celebration

MEXICO — Breakfast with Santa will be served from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, in the Region 9 cafeteria, 377 River Road.

Visitors should bring their camera for photos with Santa, and children will receive small gifts. There will also be raffles and a Chinese auction.

Tickets cost $4 and may be purchased in advance at Dirigo Elementary School, Dirigo High School and Region 9.

Proceeds will benefit Dirigo High School Class of 2017.

Post to hold tree lighting

OXFORD — Anderson Staples Post/Unit 112 will host the annual tree-lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Post on King Street.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will join the ceremony and hand out gifts to children.

Those who wish may purchase a light for the tree in memory or in honor of someone by contacting 207-739-9831.

Socrates Cafe to meet

WATERFORD — The Socrates Cafe will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at the Waterford Library.

The discussion topic will be “Robotics in Our Near Future: Benefits, Effects, Dangers” with moderator John England.

New exercise class for cancer victims

NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine has announced a new exercise class, Banding Together to Restore.

The classes will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Dec. 5, 12 and 19, at Richard Bader Physical Therapy, 176 Main St. 

This free class is for cancer survivors, caregivers and those in treatment.

Library offering Story Time 

DIXFIELD — There will be Story Time Mondays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Ludden Memorial Library, except during school closings and holidays.

There will be stories, crafts and healthy snacks.

FARMINGTON — SeniorsPlus will hold office hours for its new satellite office at 218 Fairbanks Road.

Office hours for scheduled appointments will be Wednesdays from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Visitors will need to call to schedule an appointment.

Walk-in hours from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. will be held on the second Thursday of the month. Staff will be on hand to answer any questions or concerns about services and resources for older adults and adults with disabilities and their families. These services are free and open to the public.

‘Harvest, Hearth and Home’

NORWAY — “Harvest, Hearth and Home: Artifacts of Work and Leisure” will be exhibited at Norway Memorial Library through December.

Cynthia Riley, Teen Services coordinator, and her husband Edward have loaned family heirlooms for display. Included are family pictures, children’s books, diaries, a friendship calendar, handmade tools and home items.

For a fun challenge, patrons may guess the use of the tools and home items for a chance to win a prize. Those who would like to enter may pick up a form at the library’s reference desk.

Auxiliary raises funds for vet foundation

HARRISON — The Harrison VFW Auxiliary recently presented $606 to the Travis Mills Foundation. 

The money was raised during its Octoberfest Supper.
