Mystery Photo for November 27, 2016
Last week’s Mystery Photo includes the inscription on the memorial bench in the David Rancourt River Preserve along the banks of the Androscoggin River in Lewiston. The 14-acre preserve is owned by the Androscoggin Land Trust and is part of the Androscoggin Greenway. The serene walking path features several scenic overlooks. In 2008, the property was dedicated in the name of Androscoggin County Deputy Sheriff David Rancourt, who tragically lost his life while scuba diving in the river nearby while on duty. In a random drawing, Barbara Dube of Lewiston was chosen as the winner. When notified that she had won, she said that it was her husband who recognized the inscription and that Rancourt was her son-in-law. Dube will receive a $20 gift card, courtesy of Hannaford Supermarkets.
