AUBURN — Thursday, Dec. 1, Cafe LA will host the first night of its Last Comic Laughing Comedy Competition. Shows start at 8 p.m.

This is a one-of-a-kind competition that will have more than 25 comics performing through winter at Cafe LA, all competing to be the “last coming laughing,” after the finals take place on April 20.

Each comic gets to perform original comedy on three separate dates.

Each five-minute set will be judged by members of the audience as to who they feel was the best of the night. The Cafe has two rooms. If both have shows that is twice the votes. Totals from each show will be added up. The comics with the most points go on to the semifinals on April 6.

The Last Comic Laughing will receive $500

Ben Roberts will be the host.

The Dec. 1 linep is as follows: Cindi Brown, Andrew Rasmussen, Ali Simpson, John Bell, Jack Slattery, Daniel Jordan, Jake Jacobson, and John Culpepper are the first to go around for comics from all over Maine and New England.

Mark Turcotte of Maine Event Comedy will be the closer of this event.
