LEWISTON — Over 1,200 customers were without power after a Central Maine Power circuit blew Tuesday night.
A Central Maine Power spokeswoman said a utility pole top insulator failed on Pleasant Street, causing the outage at 8:42 p.m. She said the rain and moisture likely added to the damage.
Sarah Stone, who lives on Goffe Street, said she saw a big, blue light in the direction of Bartlett Hill just as the power went out in her home. “The power is out on Lisbon Street, Pleasant, and all the side roads,” she said. “There are police and firemen all around here.”
The CMP spokeswoman said at about 9:30 p.m. that it could be several hours before power was restored.
