Kyle Rines, the Bucks’ soccer coach, has brought some athletes with him from the pitch, and the hope is they can add even more leadership to what is an older but not particularly experienced nucleus.

They don’t have much size but expect to have strong guard play with Jacob Kraske, Derek Salisbury, Ethan Jackson and Noah Wiley leading the way. They’ll look to beat teams with their speed and athleticism, but they will need to play with composure, too.

“We’re blessed with a lot of high-caliber athletes,” Rines said. “Another strength for us is going to be our senior leadership.”

The schedule starts with defending Class D champion Valley, D contenders Pine Tree and Seacoast Christian and fellow Class C playoff contender Richmond. The slate also includes Class C teams St. Dom’s and North Yarmouth Academy. A few wins against those foes can push the Bucks a lot closer to their first trip to the Augusta Civic Center since 2012.
