TURNER — Lt. Brandon Siderio of the Wales Fire Department was given the Firefighter of the Year Award at the recent Androscoggin County Firefighters Association annual meeting.

Association President Jared Blake made the presentation at the Turner Fire Department.

Beginning as a junior firefighter in 2006, Siderio completed basic fire school in 2009 and became an emergency medical responder in May 2015. He is completing the process to become a basic emergency medical technician and recently completed a forestry course.

Siderio was promoted to lieutenant in July 2014. He is a member of Wales Rescue, Sabattus Fire/EMS, Androscoggin County Firefighters Association and Maine State Federation of Firefighters.

He is a third-generation firefighter. His grandfather, Alfred C. Siderio Jr., founded the Wales Fire Department in 1975 and was the town’s first chief. His father, Anthony Siderio Sr., has been a member of the Wales Fire Department for more than 35 years and is its chief.

Siderio oversees the junior firefighter program for the Wales Fire Department. He has overseen hose testing and maintenance records and had a part in implementing the new emergency reporting program.

Blake announced the newly established Alfred C. Siderio Jr. scholarship of up to $250 for association members to attend fire service trainings.
