FARMINGTON — Two Chesterville teenagers are accused of taking a parent’s car without permission, driving to Farmington, and stealing items from unlocked vehicles parked off Front Street, according to police.

Officer Kevin Lemay stopped a vehicle driving without headlights early Monday, Deputy Police Chief Shane Cote said. A 15-year-old boy, who did not have a driver’s license, was at the wheel. Lemay called the boy’s mother.

When she arrived, she pulled items from her car that didn’t belong to them, Cote said.

When Lemay questioned the boys about the items, he was told they were taken from unlocked vehicles parked in a lot off Front Street, Police Chief Jack Peck said. One of the items was a purse, he said.

The boys, 15 and 17, were issued summonses on misdemeanor charges of theft by unauthorized use, burglary of a motor vehicle, and theft, Cote said.

The 15-year-old also received a summons on a misdemeanor charge of operating without a license.
