THE FORECAST
PORTLAND — The snow will start light in the morning from ocean effect snow then an area of low pressure will bring heavier rain and snow.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until tomorrow at 5 a.m. for much of the region.
The snow will be heaviest in the mountains and foothills of western and northern Maine.
Coastal locations will get a round of widespread and heavy rain.
This system will intensify during the late afternoon and evening hours.
Overnight into Friday much of the rain along the coast will become snow as colder air moves in.
There will be gradual clearing Friday but it is also going to be very windy.
Tonight into tomorrow areas especially along the coast could see wind gusts up to 50 mph.
Coastal Knox and Waldo County and points east are under a High Wind Warning, there gusts could reach 60 mph.
The heavy snow, combined with strong winds could bring power outages tonight into tomorrow.
Saturday will start mostly sunny but we can expect another round of snow showers Saturday evening.
Brighter skies return Sunday.

LEWISTON-AUBURN PARKING BANS
LEWISTON — There are parking bans in both Lewisto and Auburn.
Lewiston’s parking ban runs from from 8 p.m. Thursday through noon Friday.
There will be free parking in the garages between 6 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday.
In Auburn the parking ban is from 9 p.m. Thursday to 6 p.m. Friday.
The city reminds residents that Auburn has a Business District Zone that is exempt from the parking ban until 11 p.m. All vehicles in this zone must be removed by 11 p.m.
