BATH — Jack Sylvester put back his own miss late in overtime to lift Leavitt past Morse 44-41 in boys’ basketball action Friday, helping the Hornets hit the win column for the first time this season.

With the score tied 41-41 in overtime, Sylvester was fouled with 14 seconds left. After making the first free throw, Sylvester missed his second, but was able to grab his own rebound, sealing the Hornets’ (1-6) first victory. The senior forward finished with a team high 12 points.

Freshman Cole Morin added 11 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.

Morse’s Tom Warren led the Shipbuilders (1-6) with a game high 18 points.

Lisbon 52, Monmouth 45

LISBON — Junior guard Jonah Sautter hit for 17 points to lead Lisbon to a 52-45 victory over Monmouth in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Mustangs (0-6) tossed four three-pointers in the fourth quarter to narrow the margin to within four, but Lisbon pulled away down the stretch.

Senior forward Tyrese Joseph contributed 15 points for the Greyhounds (4-2).

Travis Hartford earned a team-high 13 points for Monmouth in the losing effort.

Gray-New Gloucester 63, Poland 52

GRAY — Sophomore guard John Martin poured in a game-high 23 points to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 63-52 victory over Poland in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

Sophomore center Hunter Colby contributed a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Patriots (4-2). Colby kept the drive alive in the fourth quarter with 10 points in the frame.

Senior guard Nate Chouinard tossed in a team-high 17 points for the Knights (2-4) in the losing effort.

Girls’ basketball

Oak Hill 43, Carrabec 16

WALES — Freshman point guard Desirae Dumais scored a game high 11 points as Oak Hll cruised to a 43-16 victory over Carrabec in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Raiders (3-2) jumped out to an early 13-4 lead and took a 25-11 margin into the break. Abby Nadeau pitched in on offense with 12 rebounds for Oak Hill.

Bailey Dunphy posted a team-high seven points for the Cobras (2-4) in the losing effort.

Lisbon 46, Monmouth 38

LISBON — Senior guard Kaylin Le drained a game-high 18 points to lead Lisbon to a 46-38 victory over Monmouth in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Greyhounds (4-2) took over in the fourth quarter and grabbed the momentum down the stretch. Jasmin Le contributed eight points and recorded key rebounds in the final minutes.

The Mustangs (5-2) were outscored 15-5 in the final frame. Junior guard Tia Day garnered a team-high 14 points in the losing effort.

Lawrence 53, Mt. Blue 39

FARMINGTON — Junior guard Hunter Mercier recorded 14 points to lead Lawrence to a 53-39 victory over Mt. Blue in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The third quarter was the turning point for the Bulldogs (3-3) when the improved upon a four-point lead with another 10 point cushion. Senior guard Morgan Boudreau contributed 13 points for Lawrence.

Junior center Rebecca Harmon and freshman guard Lexi Mittelstadt shared team-high eight points each for the Cougars (0-6) in the losing effort.

Morse 26, Leavitt 24

BATH — Senior Hope Faulkingham and junior Sierra Wallace tabulated eight points each as Morse clipped Leavitt 26-24 in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Hornets (3-4) got a bump in the second quarter with 12 points for a 16-10 halftime lead. Allie Belaire posted a game-high 10 points for Leavitt.

The Shipbuilders’ (2-4) defense stepped up in the third quarter to allow the office to gain back four points, and repeated the effort in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Wells 58, Spruce Mountain 52

WELLS — Forward Halee Ramsdell catalogued 20 points in a balanced attack as Wells dispatched Spruce Mountain 58-52 in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Phoenix (2-4) closed in on a two-point margin down the stretch, but succumbed to a series of successful free throws by the Warriors (4-1).

Senior point guard Alex Bessey tossed a whopping 33 points on nine field goals, including a three-pointer, and 14 free throws for Spruce Mountain in the losing effort.

Girls’ ice hockey

St. Dom’s 10, Winslow/Gardiner 1

AUBURN — Sophomore forward Avery Lutrzykowski netted half the goals as St. Dom’s floated to a 10-1 triumph over Winslow/Gardiner in girls’ ice hockey action Friday evening.

The Black Tigers prevented the shutout with a second period tally from Julia Hinkley.

Sophomore forward Kristina Cornelio contributed a hat trick and added three assists for the Saints (7-0) in the winning effort.

Boys’ ice hockey

Lewiston 13, Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse 3

LEWISTON — Joe Bisson scored four goals as Lewiston ripped a 13-3 victory from Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse in boys’ ice hockey action Friday evening.

The Blue Devils (4-0) found the back of the cage for six tallies in the second period. Alex Rivet and Jeromey Rancourt netted a pair of goals each for Lewiston.

Noah Austin tagged a goal and an assist for Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse in the losing effort.
