Gov. Paul LePage said of a Democratic elector who wanted to cast his vote for Bernie Sanders that the man turned the proceeding into “a joke” and that he felt “very, very embarrassed.” The man wanted to make a point and then changed his vote after being told he could not vote for Sanders.
It is ironic that LePage feels it was a joke and that he was embarrassed. Personally I feel embarrassed to have LePage representing the people of Maine.
This is a governor who said there should be public executions for drug traffickers, made racially charged, unsubstantiated comments that drug traffickers impregnate young white girls, made a homophobic remark about using Vaseline when talking about a state senator, told the NAACP they can kiss his butt, talked about the chemical BPA causing woman to grow beards when he didn’t want to ban the chemical. He also intimated immigrants caused a spike in hepatitis C, TB, and HIV, said he would tell the President of the United States to go to hell, talked about blowing up the Press Herald building, joked about gunning down a political cartoonist, and made the unsubstantiated claim there was wide voter fraud in Maine, thereby putting our democratic process in jeopardy.
The man has not learned words do count, especially from our leaders. He is a true embarrassment to our state.
