New Ventures offering basic budgeting
NORWAY — New Ventures Maine will offer the free workshop Budgeting Basics from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
The class will be held through Oxford Hills/Buckfield Adult Education, and will help attendees gain the skills and confidence to stretch their money, pay their bills and save for future goals.
If canceled due to weather, the class will be held Wednesday, Jan. 25.
The class is open to individuals and couples of all ages and incomes.

Rumford Seniors board meeting
PERU — The Rumford Seniors will hold a board meeting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the Senior Center in Peru.
The membership meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26.
‘Iconic Places’ sees forests
BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Land Trust will give a presentation entitled “Mahoosuc Old Growth: the Once and Future Forest,” the first in its 2017 speaker series, “Iconic Places.”
The event will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, in the McLaughlin Auditorium on the Gould Academy campus.
Greenwood Fiddle Jam
GREENWOOD — Greenwood Fiddle Jam sends music through the town from 1 to 4 p.m. every first and third Sunday of the month at the Greenwood Town Office, 593 Gore Road.
There is a slow jam through 2 p.m.

Essentials of College Planning
WILTON — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center’s Essentials of College Planning workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Wilton CareerCenter, 865 U.S. Route 2 East.
This workshop introduces people to educational opportunities in general and MEOC services in particular. This interactive workshop touches on the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career and study skills.
The Financial Aid portion of this workshop will provide an overview of financial basics and the completion of the Free Application of Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
