1941 – 2017

LEWISTON — Jack Albert Goodwin slipped from his earthly bonds to continue his spiritual journey Monday, Jan. 16. He passed at home with his loving wife, Penny, and their three children by his side.

A lifelong Lewistonian, Jack was born Jan. 20, 1941, to his parents, Lawrence and Margaret Pauquette Goodwin. He was a proud naval veteran and served four years as a cook aboard the USS Kiowa. As a young man he worked for the Maine Central Railroad, later as deli manager for Food Town Grocery Markets. He also was employed at Pioneer Plastics for many years. Later, Jack retired from Bates College as a facilities maintainer for the Athletics Center.

He will forever be loved by his three children, son, Michael and wife, Elinor, of Williamstown, Mass., daughter, Heidi and her husband, Steven Campbell, of Buckfield, and son, Billy Jack and wife, Carrie Luke, of Falmouth. The jewels in his crown are his four granddaughters, Kelsey and Kayla Goodwin and Abigail and Ashley Campbell. Jack is also survived by his sister, Kathy, of Lakeland, Fla.; brothers, Tom of Salem, Mass., David of Portland, and Dan.

Jack lived by a simple philosophy: “Life is what we make of it.” His friends and family will remember him fondly as a New England Patriots fan, a sharp pool and card player, a dog lover and, of course, a grand storyteller. Jack had a proud, kind and generous spirit that he shared with those he loved the most.
