WATERFORD — Waterford Library has announced its schedule of events for February.

Special events include: 

Meet the Author: 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4. Local author, Caroline Grimm, will be showcased with her new novel, “The Guest Book: A Novel of Acadia.” The author will read from the book and have copies available for purchase and signing. 

Valentine’s Movie Sing Along and Potluck: 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13. The film featured will be “Dirty Dancing,” rated PG-13. Movie-goers will joke, yell at the screen, laugh, jeer, wear costumes, sing and eat. The Catskills Resort Wear or Baby and Johnny costumes will be out, and the visitor wearing the best costume will win a prize. Those attending should bring a covered dish or dessert.

Sheena Fraser Lecture: 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. The library’s annual lecture will feature Lisa Winslow, local writer and farmer. She will read from her essays about her life growing up on a farm. Winslow has a unique perspective on farm life, family and community.

Socrates Cafe: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6. The discussion topic will be “What are facts in our modern society?” The moderator will be Joanne Morse. Light refreshments will be provided. This group meets on the first Monday of the month. FMI: 207-583-6957.

Mystery Book Club: 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8. This month the club will discuss Christopher Brookmyre’s Jack Parlabane series set in Scotland. The club meets on the second Wednesday of the month. 

Documentary and Discussion: 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17. Donna McCarraher, moderator, will discuss “Reuse!” about recycling and repurposing household objects to give them a second life and keep them from the landfill. She will have examples and projects This group meets on the third Friday of the month. 

Book Discussion: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22. This month the discussion will look at “Passage to India” by E.M. Forester. The group meets the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Weekly events:

Knitting: 2 p.m. Mondays.

Online Gaming: 6 p.m. Wednesdays.

Coffee Cafe: 9 a.m. Fridays.

If SAD 17 or SAD 61 schools close due to weather conditions, the library will also close.
