AUBURN — Suzanne Gail Quintal, “Suzy Q,” 60, formerly of Lewiston, took her last breaths Wednesday, Feb. 1, with her daughter by her side after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

She was born Oct. 31, 1956, in Augusta, the daughter of the late Fred and Rita (Cote) Quintal. She grew up at the Lewiston Raceway where the family was involved in harness racing. She loved growing up on the track and made some amazing lifelong friends. She attended Lewiston schools and later went on to get her GED.

She worked numerous places throughout her life, but other than working with the horses, her favorite job was being employed for the last nine years as a TSA at the Portland Jetport. She considered her co-workers family and really enjoyed making work as fun as possible with them. She spoke most fondly of Shannon and loved her like a second daughter.

Sue was always the life of the party and her laughter and smile were contagious. She enjoyed watching her ID channel, singing and dancing to the oldies, reading, drinking coffee on the deck with her very best friend in the whole world, Angie, and most recently her biggest joy in life was her grandson, Sawyer. She thought the world of him and loved every second they spent together.

She is survived by her daughter, Ashley, and her wife, Angie Stevens, and their son, Sawyer, of Auburn; her sister, Michelle and her husband, Patrick Beaulieu, of Lewiston; as well as many extended family and friends; and her cat, Hayden.

She is predeceased by her parents, Fred and Rita (Cote) Quintal; and her sister, Roxanne (Quintal) Fitch.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Dempsey Center for the services they provided, not only for Sue but also the immediate family, the staff at Clover who cared for Sue the final weeks of her life and also Androscoggin Hospice, especially Mary who was an angel and took exceptional care of Sue.

Condolences may be expressed at www.funeralalternatives.net.
