AUBURN — Claudette I. (Polly) Annance, 81, of Mechanic Falls died Thursday, Feb. 2, at the Hospice House in Auburn.

She was born in Lewiston, April 24, 1935, the daughter of Pierre and Blanche Chenard Bosse and attended school in Lewiston. Polly had worked in local shoe shops, operated a day care and with her husband, John, owned Polly’s Variety in Oxford from 1983 to 1997.

She was a member of Oxford Chapter No. 168 OES, Pastime Club, Twenty-One Social Club, Lewiston Senior Citizens, Franco-American War Veterans. Polly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, music, crocheting, knitting, singing, cooking and baking and had volunteered at the Maine Veterans’ Home. On Dec. 1, 1956, she married John Annance who died Dec. 27, 2003. Polly was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of American Legion Post 150 and was chosen woman of the year 2013-14.

She is survived by two sons, Louis P. Annance of Mechanic Falls, and Robert R. Annance and fiancée, Monica, of Lisbon Falls; daughter, Lisa D. Annance and Dennis of Oxford; grandchildren, Jeremy D. Gagnon, Julie L. Ward, John P. Annance, Peter Annance, Jason, Megan, Ryan and Lacey Annance, Michael and Matthew Morneau; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Blanche Landry of Auburn, Pauline Beaudoin of Lewiston; brother, Roland Bosse of Lewiston; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Charles (Herman) Smith of Alabama and Daniel O’Connell of South Harpswell.
