RUMFORD — Jeannette Marie Belanger, 100, of Strafford Ave., Rumford, died Sunday, Feb. 5, at the Rumford Community Home.

She was born in Grand Isle on Jan. 23, 1917, and was the daughter of Leonard and Annie (Cyr) Doucette. She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church, former member Ladies of St. Anne; she loved to knit, crochet and make beautiful quilts, and enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was married in Rumford on Oct. 6, 1941, to Laurier O. “Pete” Belanger, who died in Portland on Oct. 13, 2002.

Survivors include sons, Laurier “Bebe” Belanger and wife, Barbara, of Rumford, Leonard Belanger and wife, Laurel, of Sumner, Edward Belanger and wife, Priscilla, of Sanford, Roger Belanger and wife, Rhonda, of Rumford, and Joseph Belanger and wife, Maureen, of Old Orchard; daughters, Jeannette Richard of Lewiston, Rebecca Richardson and husband, Wayne of Leesburg, Fla., and Louise Joudrey of Wilton; 22 grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; two sisters, Geraldine Andrukevich of Connecticut and Sister Georgianne Doucette of Biddeford.

She was predeceased by a son, Louis; seven sisters; and five brothers.
