AUBURN — Margaret M. Richard, 97, of Auburn died on Sunday, Feb. 5, at Clover Manor Health Care Facility, with her loving family by her side, following a short illness.

She was born in Dorchester Crossing, New Brunswick, Canada, on Aug. 30, 1919, the daughter of the late Thaddee and Laura (Legere) Cormier. She married Emile J. Richard at Ste. Jaques le Majeur in Scoudouc, New Brunswick, Canada, on Dec. 9, 1940; and he died on April 13, 1991. Together, they both enjoyed traveling and camping throughout New Brunswick and Maine.

She was employed in the shoe industry at Livermore Falls Shoe, Norwalk Shoe in Jay and Forster Manufacturing in Wilton and East Wilton.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking and most of all her family was her whole life.

Margaret was a very devout Catholic.

She is survived by two daughters, Gail Corbin and her husband, Richard, of Florida and Maine and Rose Lagasse and her husband, Paul, of Auburn; four sons, James Richard and his wife, Jeannine, of Jay, Paul Richard and his wife, Pat, of Augusta, Claude Richard and his companion, Penny Conley, of Augusta and Edward Richard of Lakeland, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Lucie Richard, who died on Nov. 26, 2015.
