LEWISTON — Marion J. Jones, 91, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. She resided in South Rumford.

Born in Rumford on Dec. 3, 1925, she was a daughter of Roy and Mary (Roy) Johnston. Marion graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford with the Class of 1943. She worked as a telephone operator for many years for New England Telephone and then was a switchboard operator at Boise Cascade Paper Co. for more than 26 years.

Marion was a member of the Boise Cascade Paper Co. 25-year club, Rumford Grange No. 115, Mount Zircon Chapter No. 21 O.E.S., Robert Shand Post No. 1641, VFW Auxiliary.

She was married in Rumford, on Nov. 6, 1946, to Kenneth S. Jones, who died in South Paris on Dec. 25, 2007.

Survivors include four daughters, Rita Hutchins of Mexico, Barbara Jones of Mexico, Laura Riggs and her husband, Charles, of Rumford, and Bonnie Jones of Rumford; a son, Leon Jones and his wife, Linda, of Washington; many grandchildren; a sister, Helen McCormic of Florida; and a brother, Lawrence Johnson of Minnesota.
