LEWISTON — Rose Paradis Godin, 87, of Lewiston died Friday, Feb. 17, peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Central Maine Medical Center, after a brief illness.

She was born in Fort Kent on Aug. 27, 1929, the daughter of Rene and Zenaide Laferriere Paradis. On May 31, 1948, she married the love of her life, Norman Godin, thus beginning their beautiful lifelong journey. They raised nine children and lost one at birth.

She loved bingo, cards and the casino. She was known for her hospitality and home cooking, always wanting to feed whomever stopped by. Her greatest pleasures were her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Dale and wife, Sue Godin, of Auburn, Larry and wife, May Godin, of Monmouth, Gary and wife, Karen Godin, of Denver, N.C.; her daughter, Diane and husband, Henry Letalien, of Rochester, N.H.; son, Donald and significant other, Barbara Villani, of Leeds; daughter, Brenda Bowie of Auburn; daughter, Bonnie and husband, Jimmy Gauthier, of Poland; and one brother, Reynold Paradis of Nashua, N.H.; her first-born granddaughter, Lisa Godin of Sabattus, who was a constant support to her grandparents and considered more of a daughter/sister than a granddaughter/niece. Rose also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Norman Godin; her parents, Rene and Zenaide Laferriere Paradis; her sister, Florence Paradis; five brothers, Wilmer, Herbert, Hubert, Bobby and Nelson; also two daughters, Judy Godin Vandini and Sandra Godin Falk; and one son, William Joseph Godin.

She was the greatest wife, mom, memere and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She was quite a woman and has left a great legacy.
