NEW GLOUCESTER — Lloyd R. Morrison, 87, of New Gloucester passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, at his home with family at his side, after an 11-year bout with cancer.

Lloyd was born in Gray on April 17, 1929, a son of Webster R. Morrison and Elsie P. (Hall) Morrison. He will be remembered as a man who was committed to his family and his town. He worked and served the town of New Gloucester for more than 50 years as a fireman and volunteer. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as an airborne paratrooper. He worked at the Pineland Campus as a security guard for many years.

Some of his many passions and interests were watching baseball, country music, dancing, mowing lawns on his riding mowers, gardening, fishing, coin detecting, and sharing his blackberry patch with friends and neighbors.

Lloyd is survived by his son, Webster Morrison and wife, Sheryl, of Tennessee; his son, Richard Morrison and wife, Diane, of New Gloucester; his daughter, Laurie Spaulding and husband, Roland, of New Gloucester; and his daughter, Linda Seger and husband, Jerry, of New Gloucester. He has nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Earland of Alfred, John (Irving) of Morrill; and sister-in-law, Doris (McDonald) Morrison of Gray.

Lloyd was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Eugenie; his parents, Webster and Elsie; his brothers, Ira, Arnold and Willard; and his son, Jeffrey.
