It has been reported that Sen. Susan Collins said recently that she is “worried” about the high number of phone calls her office has received. I am not surprised since her party’s presidential candidate lost the popular vote by a sizable margin.
The job of a U.S. senator is to represent the wishes of her or his constituents at the federal level. Given the increasingly chaotic and controversial goings-on in Washington, I imagine her call volume won’t be going down anytime soon.
I respectfully suggest that Sen. Collins stop complaining, start explaining, and hire enough staff to properly do the job the people of Maine elected her to do.
