With regard to the ongoing battle between the Trump administration and the press, it is interesting to note that at the first White House Press Association dinner of his administration on May 9, 2009, President Barack Obama was quoted as saying to the White House Press:

“I’m Barack Obama. Many of you covered me and ALL (emphasis mine) of you voted for me.” (Laughter, applause.) “Apologies to the folks at the Fox News table. They’re — where are they?” (Laughter).
