DIXFIELD — The Regional School Unit 56 board has appointed three people to interim positions, Superintendent Brenda Gammon said Thursday.
RSU 10 Business Manager Mary Dailey was appointed interim business manager and RSU 10 secretary Judith Houghton was appointed interim secretary. Brian Keene, director of technology for Region 9 School of Applied Technology, will serve as interim director of technology.
The towns are Canton, Carthage, Dixfield and Peru withdrew from RSU 10 in November 2016 to form RSU 56, which begins operations July 1.
At its meeting Tuesday, the RSU 56 board will look at the vision of the central office staff, Gammon said. “At that meeting, the personnel committee will make recommendations on what positions to post; they’re looking at central office staff right now.”
Also at the meeting, RSU 10 director of buildings, grounds and transportation, Kenny Robbins, will make a presentation on buildings, grounds and transportation costs for RSU 56.
Robbins will also discuss where RSU 56 stands on buses and mechanics and consider questions like whether the new district will be able to maintain its fleet, Gammon said.
A Negotiations Committee will be established because the contract for principals is up June 30, she said.
The next board meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at Dirigo High School.
