LEWISTON — Central Maine Healthcare, parent company of Central Maine Medical Center, Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital, has hired a Tennessee health care executive to oversee the operations and business development of the Bridgton and Rumford hospitals.

Robert “Rob” Slattery joins CMH as former CEO and president of Integrated Solutions Health Network, a subsidiary of Mountain States Health Alliance, a four-state health care system based in Johnson City, Tennessee. Prior to that, he was a vice president and general manager for BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee’s Senior Care health plan and served in leadership positions with United Healthcare, HCIM, Aetna and WellPoint.

According to information provided by CMH on Tuesday, Slattery built ISHN into a network of more than 4,000 physicians and 34 hospitals in northeast Tennessee, southwest Virginia and western North Carolina, “successfully delivering high-quality, evidenced-based health care to the people of Appalachia.”

“I’m excited to join the regional leadership team of Bridgton and Rumford Hospitals, while also being a strategic resource for the Central Maine Healthcare system,” Slattery said in a news release issued by CMH.

David Frum, president & CEO of the Bridgton and Rumford hospitals, said in the release, “I speak for our board and entire organization when I say we are thrilled to have the talent of Rob on our team. The 25-plus years of experience he brings, particularly at industry-leading companies such as Mountain States Health Alliance and BlueCross BlueShield, will be a critical asset as we expand our services and delivery offerings and foster new strategic health care relationships.”

According to CMH, Slattery was a senior member of MSHA’s senior leadership team when it was recognized with the National Quality Forum National Quality Healthcare Award, a two-time finalist for the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award and a recipient of the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence Award and the U.S. Senate Productivity and Quality Award for Virginia.
