LEWISTON — Practical strategies for overcoming debt and achieving financial independence will be discussed at Lifetree Café at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at 1919 Lisbon Road.
The program, titled “Financial Freedom: Practical Advice From a Man Who Had It All — and Lost It,” features a filmed interview with Matt Bell, a financial adviser who learned money management partially due to a personal financial fiasco.
“I was blind to what was happening to the money I had, and I was acclimated to the lifestyle I was leading,” Bell said. “I literally woke up one day and I realized I was in trouble.”
Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Lifetree Café is a place where people gather for conversation about life and faith in a casual, comfortable setting.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
