‘Record-keeping’ at McLaughlin Garden

PARIS — The McLaughlin Garden and Homestead’s March 22 lecture will be presented by Jean Potuchek, sociology professor emeritus at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. She will present research on the topic of “How Does Your Garden Grow: Garden Record- Keeping.”

Potuchek now lives in East Poland where she has become a Master Gardener. She chronicles her garden inher blog, “Jean’s Garden.”

The lecture will be held on Wednesday at 4 p.m. upstairs in Bernard McLaughlin’s historic home, 97 Main St. Tea begins at 3:30 p.m. There is no fee; donations are requested.

Star Teachings of TEA

PARIS — A community gathering of Star Teachings of TEA dedicated to practicing kindness will take place from 4 to 5:30p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at the Paris Public Library, 37 Market Square, Route 26.

The gathering will be in circle format where everyone is invited to share their stories, wisdom and questions in the space of openness and receiving.

Stoneham DUV to meet

PARIS — Hannah F. Richardson Tent No. 19, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861-1865 of Stoneham held its installation of officers on Feb. 23 at the First Baptist Church of Paris on Paris Hill.

Installing officer was Department of Maine Patriotic Instructor and Registrar Sally Sawyer of Tent No. 17, Bryant Pond.

The next meeting will be on Thursday, March 23, at the same location.

Fourth Thursday Poetry at RPL

RUMFORD — Rumford Public Library’s Fourth Thursday Poetry group will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 23. 

Poets and poetry lovers will gather to discuss their own or other poet’s works.

Polar Bears’ annual meeting

RUMFORD — The annual meeting and election of officers for the Rumford Polar Bears Snowmobile Club will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 23, at Sam’s Restaurant on Route 2.

Nomination of officers will be accepted from the floor.
