AUBURN — Described as a singer who will make your soul tremble; a violinist who can make you cry; an accordion player and a dancer who stirs up joyous frenzy, Michael Alpert will perform at Temple Shalmon, Saturday, Aprli 1,  at 7 p.m. 
Alpert is a highly awarded performer, winner of an Emmy Award and Rose D’Or as  musical director of the PBS Great Performances special “Itzhak Perlman: In the Fiddler’s House;” executive producer of the two Perlman klezmer CDs on Angel/EMI, and director the subsequent international concert tours. He performed with Brave Old World in the above productions and appeared with  Perlman on CBS’ “The Late Show with David Letterman.”  
 
Alpert also is a scholar, historian, folklorist, ethnomusicologist and storyteller who speaks eight languages.
 
There will be a family contra dance, led by local musician Greg Boardman, at 5:30 p.m.
A dessert reception will follow.
The suggested donation is $10, with no charge for children and students.
