DEAR SUN SPOTS: I know you will be able to help us find a new place where our tenants association can purchase lobster salad at a decent price. The place we did business with has closed and we are looking for a new business that sells lobster salad. We are a senior apartment building and would love to find such a place. Thank you for your help. — No name, Lewiston.

ANSWER: It can be tough to find a “decent price” because the price of lobster is often tied to the current market price. Here are a few places in the area that sell lobster salad:

  • Mac’s Downeast Seafood, 894 Minot Ave., Auburn, carries lobster salad for $25 per pound. They can be reached by calling 207-777-5871;
  • Gendron’s Seafood, 1292 Lisbon St. in Lewiston, also carries lobster salad. For more information and current pricing, call 207-784-2646; and
  • Always Fresh Larochelle’s Seafood, 22 Mill St. in Auburn, can be reached by calling 207-782-3150.

If anyone else has a business to recommend that sells lobster salad, please write in to Sun Spots.

Another resource for checking out businesses is the Office of the Maine Attorney General. You can find out if a particular contractor has been the subject of a consumer complaint that the attorney general attempted to mediate by contacting the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division at 1-800-436-2131 or at consumer.mediation@maine.gov.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Trail Monster Running, a group of trail runners based in Southern Maine, has hosted sold-out trail running races in the Pownal area for years. New this spring, we will be offering something a bit more unique. We are hosting the first-ever 100-mile endurance running trail race to be held in Maine. It will be in May 2017 on a wonderful piece of public land, the Androscoggin Riverlands State Park in Turner, with the support of the local ATV club and campground. We are thrilled to have over 100 entrants in solo and relay divisions.

We are actively seeking more volunteers to help with a variety of tasks throughout the weekend. There are exciting things happening in our own backyard! For more information, please call 207-209-4920. — Sarah Adelburg, no town.
