BATH — Chris Smither, whose songs have been recorded by Bonnie Rait, Emmylou Harris and Loudon Wainright III, will perform his unique blend of folk blues at 7:30 p.m. April 7, at the Chocolate Church, 804 Washington St.

Smither’s music draws deeply from the blues, American folk music, and modern poets and philosophers. His fingerpicked acoustic guitar and evocative sonic textures are meshed with spare, brilliant lyrics. Reminiscent at times of Bruce Springsteen, Tim Hardin, and a more haunting Bob Dylan, Smither has earned the respect of his many fans and fellow artists over the span of his career.

His album, “Still on the Levee,” was released in 2012, the same year his lyrics were published in book form, “Chris Smither Lyrics 1966-2012.”

Tickets are $24 in advance, $27 at the door. Tickets are available by calling 207-442-8455 or purchase online www.chocolatechurcharts.org.

Folk blues artist Chris Smither will perform Friday, April 7, in Bath.
