FARMINGTON — Gus and Mia are the Pets of the Week at the Franklin County Animal Shelter.
Dog of the Week, Augustus Maximus — “Gus” to his friends — is 7 years old and of unknown breed(s). He started his life as a champion marathon runner, unstoppable and fast. His glory years are behind him, but he still likes to relive the old days, going on long, long walks and ending the day with back rubs and cuddles.
Mia, the Cat of the Week, is a sweet girl who loves climbing all over people to get affectionate pets and head scratches. While she adores people, she doesn’t have much love for other cats or dogs, and would do well in a home without other pets. She has been at the shelter for some time and is eager to find a family as sweet as her.
Augustus Maximus, Mia and other pets may be visited at the shelter from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays at 550 Industry Road. Cats and dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption and have been vaccinated for rabies, treated for fleas, microchipped and have had nail trims. The shelter also rehomes barn cats, livestock and other pets.
