DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am collecting items for the children of Haiti. I did it last year, and with everyone’s help I was able to collect 42 boxes. How great is that? I’m collecting school supplies and new summer clothing for boys and girls, ages 3 to 16. Also, toothbrushes, toothpaste, first aid, combs, hair brushes, anything that you can — just nothing in a glass container. Give me a call and I will do pickups, 207-364-3816. Thank you very much in advance. God bless you all. — Orella Poirier, Mexico.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a computer monitor and two keyboards with mouse to give to any nonprofit organization. Please call 207-784-6746. Thank you. — G.J.C., Lewiston.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Saturday, May 6, there will be a potluck lunch and live auction at the Avon Town House to benefit Avon resident Marie Pillsbury. Lunch is at 1 p.m. with the auction to follow at 2 p.m., featuring Tom Saviello doing the calling. There will be a food sale table open throughout the day and a donation jar as well. Marie Pillsbury had a complete knee replacement late last year and was recovering nicely when she broke her other leg a few weeks ago.

The proceeds from this event will help her with home modifications and medical needs as she works toward recovery. Auction items are needed and can be dropped off at the Mt. Blue Standard Water District office at 11 Main St. in Phillips from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Cook what you can, give what you can, and let’s work together to help our neighbor Marie. This event is sponsored by Phillips Community Church and Strong Church of the Nazarene. For more information, call Barb Gardiner at 207-684-3394 or Carol Rogers at 207-670-8527.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: For the reader looking for Turkey Hill ice cream, the Greene IGA on Route 202 always carries Turkey Hill ice cream. There are special sale prices about once a month or so.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Members of the Mt. Blue Area Garden Club will hold their annual spring plant sale on May 20, at 9 a.m. sharp at Meetinghouse Park, across from the courthouse in Farmington. Many varieties of perennial plants will be offered at reasonable prices, along with a few annuals. The plants are grown locally in Franklin County; they come from members and friends’ gardens. Anyone interested in donating plants should bring their potted donations to the park between 7:15 and 8:45 a.m. that morning.

This plant sale is a fundraiser for our scholarship offered to a Mt. Blue High School senior who is going on to study in the area of horticulture. Last year we were able to give a $600 scholarship to a deserving graduate. A portion of the proceeds are also used to plant flowers at the courthouse garden and the WWI Memorial Gardens. Come and shop for your plant needs while supporting our scholarship and beautification programs. For more information, please call 207-645-2067 or 207-578-0145.

DEAR SUN SPOTS : I lost my regular prescription glasses in the area of Staples.  Not sure if they fell out of my car. They have a gold frame. If found, can you please call 207-402-0755. — Cecile Langlois, no town.
