Bryant Pond 4-Camp open house

BRYANT POND — The University of Maine 4-H Camp & Learning Center at Bryant Pond will hold its annual Youth Field Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 4.

The free open house gives people of all ages the chance to experience many of the activities at the center. The Operation Game Thief exhibit trailer will be on display, and there will be a full schedule of events and activities including archery, riflery, shotgun, trout fishing, canoeing, nature arts, geology sluice, wildlife ecology, moose calling and other opportunities.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. 

Refreshments will be available.

Vendors sought for rail fair

PHILLIPS — Plans are underway for a Model Rail and Hobby Show on Sept. 30, and the planners, the Sandy River & Rangeley Lake Railroad and the Phillips Area Community Center, are looking for vendors.

During the show SR&RL trains will be running, with a special run for vendors, following take-down of displays on the day of the show.

The event will be located in the PACC in Phillips, with a large space, plenty of parking, food sales on site, and tables provided.

First table is free, with subsequent tables $10 each.

National Trails Day June 3

ANDOVER — The Mahoosuc Land Trust will host a hike for all ages to the Cataracts and Flume at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3, National Trails Day. Participants will meet at Akers Ski, 51 Akers Way, to carpool to the trailhead.

This is a short hike with a good reward. It offers many chances to view the pools and drops of Frye Brook, and has a picnic area at the end. This hike is part of the land trust’s year-long focus on Iconic Places in and around the area.

Participants should wear sturdy shoes and bring water and a picnic lunch.

Program celebrates Special Olympics Maine

FARMINGTON — There will be a free program and dinner in celebration of Special Olympics Maine, hosted by the Trinity United Methodist Women, at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Lisa Underwood Bird, director of public and media relations, will present at 4 p.m.

At 5 p.m., a free dinner will be served.

A silent auction will be offered from 3:45 to 5:45 p.m. featuring a quilt, crafts and donated items.

Athletes with intellectual disabilities are offered 24 sports year round. Any donations benefit area athletes.
