While mowing the lawn at Pettingill School Park in Lewiston, Public Works employee Phil Couillard picked up several items, including a baseball, bottle, stick and a discarded bag of chips. “It’s a really nice park, one of the best in the city. It’s much better than condos,” he said. Neighborhood residents and former elementary school students and teachers rallied to stop developers from building on the property, raising money and donations to build and maintain the park.
