AUBURN — The United Soccer Academy 2017 will take place at the Lewiston-Auburn Youth Soccer Association fields located behind the Auburn Middle School from July 24-July 28. This teaching academy is for students from age 5-18. The 5-7 year olds will participate from 9-11:30 a.m. The older players will participate from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Elite and United School of Goalkeepers will continue until 3 p.m. except Friday.

On hand will be goalkeeper specialist “Butch” Dow who has traditional training from the SoccerPlus Keeper training schools run throughout the United States. Also attending as a guest lecturer is Eric Wagner, noted men’s soccer coach at Swarthmore College. New to the academy will be coaches Dan Gish and Abdijabar Hersi who will coach the elite middle school players. Both a valued assistant coaches for Lewiston High School. Coach Gish is a former varsity soccer coach while he was at Gardiner High School and coach Hersi has extensive experience as a coach and trainer for Seacoast United and Phoenix Soccer based out of Portland. They will provide fundamentals and skills needed for any individual development to our players.

Walk-in registration will be on site at 8:30 a.m. July 24. Adults bringing players need to be reminded not to park on the AMS Field as they are being managed for the upcoming season.
