Lewiston Farmers Market open Sundays 

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Farmers Market at Bates Mill is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays through mid-October at the municipal parking lot on the corner of Lincoln and Main streets.

Market customers can purchase goods using cash, credit, debit, SNAP and WIC. Loyal customers will have the opportunity to receive a gift certificate after five visits to the market with the Market Rewards Program. Seniors 62 and older will receive a gift certificate to the market on the first Sunday of the month with the Seniors Day program.

Cribbage tournament set for Saturday

CANTON — There will be a cribbage tournament to support the town’s bicentennial at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 17, in the meeting room at the Town Office, located at 94 Turner St.

Soft drinks and light refreshments will be provided and all fees go towards the town’s bicentennial, which will occur in 2021.

The entry fee is $10 per person and two trophies will be awarded. There will be a separate list of rules and a competition ladder.

Community engagement panel discussion

LEWISTON — Uplift LA will organize a group of local leaders, politicians, and community organizers, looking engage citizens in community involvement, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at Bear Bones Beer, 43 Lisbon St.

There are plenty of opportunities for rising professionals to get involved. Those interested can ask questions, grab a beer, and learn how to make a difference in their community.

Library seeks donations for book sale

TURNER — The Turner Public Library is seeking donations for its annual book sale that will begin Saturday, July 1.

Gently-used books can be left in the lobby of the Leavitt Institute Building anytime the library is open.

The library will accept CDs, DVDs and puzzles also, but ask that no encyclopedias or magazines be left.

LEWISTON — The winners of the Lewiston Bridge Club’s annual Monday membership game on May 22 were, first, Norma and Rick Verrill; second, Jeanine Kivus and Hazel Glazier; third, Nancy Farmer and Luke Merry; fourth, Paul Clement and Roger Labbe; fifth, Richard Allen and Richard Balian; first in C, Ellie and George Wigton.

Winners on May 23 were, first, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; second, Nancy Lindgren and Les Buzzell; third, Jeanine Kivus and Fred Letourneau; and first in B, Nancy Farmer and David Offer.

Winners of the annual Tuesday membership game on May 30 were, first, Nancy Lindgren and Bill Clifford; second, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; third, fourth and fifth ties in A and B, Cindy and Bob Kirchherr, Dick Allen and Marta Clements, and Richard Balian and Paul Clement.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays in the Seniors Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed and all bridge players are welcomed.
