FARMINGTON — Unk, Papi, Black Jack  and Penny are recent Pets of the Week at the Franklin County Animal Shelter.

Unk is a male cat, 4 to 6 years old, who is a little shy but has made a lot of progress in learning to be comfortable with people. Unk loves dogs and gets along with other cats also.

Papi is a 3-year-old dog of unconfirmed breed who likes to give kisses and go on long walks. Papi is comfortable with some dogs, but would do best in a home without cats. Papi has some kennel aggression toward men, but once out of the kennel, does well with anyone.

Black Jack is a 4- to 6-year-old male seeking a “fur-ever” home. He is shy until he gets to know people, and then he is a conversationalist.

Penny is an 8-year-old DNA-tested Jack Russell terrier. She is a bundle of energy and love. Penny is a highly intelligent escape artist, so she requires a secure run and knowledgeable owners. Penny is being fostered with an Adoption Ambassador, and those interested in meeting her may schedule an appointment.

Unk, Papi, Black Jack and other pets may be visited at the shelter from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays at 550 Industry Road. Cats and dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption and have been vaccinated for rabies, treated for fleas, microchipped and have had nail trims. The shelter also rehomes barn cats, livestock and other pets.
