LEWISTON — Mary E. “Betty” Parent, 77, loving wife of Harvey Parent, of Leavitt Street in Mexico, formerly of Waltham, Mass., passed away unexpectedly Saturday June 17, at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born on Prince Edward Island on June 22, 1939, a daughter of Robert and Olive Arsenault. While living in Massachusetts, Betty was employed with Liberty Engineering for many years.

Betty enjoyed dancing, listening to country music and playing the guitar, quilting, and sewing. She also enjoyed baking strawberry rhubarb pies and cakes. Most of all, Betty loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Harvey J. Parent, of Mexico; children Donna Murphy and husband, Michael, of Framingham, Mass., Crystal Pirozzi and husband, Stephen, of Watertown, Mass., Patrick Parent and wife, Leslie, of Union, Michael Parent and wife, Doreen, of Warren and Christopher Parent and wife, Alina, of Lincoln; sisters Theresa Rodgerson of P.E.I. and Emma Desroches and husband, Edward, of Ontario; brothers Eric Arsenault and wife, Jean, of Toronto and Leo Arsenault of P.E.I., and twins Ray Arsenault and wife, Beverly, of P.E.I. and Roy Arsenault and wife, Lois, of P.E.I.; grandchildren David Murphy, Cassidy Pirozzi, Shelby Pirozzi, Heather Staples and Kayla Parent; great-grandchildren Hayden Staples, Summer Staples, Paisley Staples and Brandon Parent; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was predeceased by her parents.
