Country music style worship

WATERFORD — The Waterford Congregational Church will perform all anthems and hymns as old-time country music at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, June 25, at 15 Plummer Hill Road.

Gail Scott from the Shadagee Ramblers will play on bass guitar and Don Chase, known as “The Maine-iac Mountaineer,” on lead guitar, and they will be joined by other instrumentalists and the entire church choir to sing and play some “golden oldies” and favorite country songs.

All are welcome to attend.

Western Mountains Baptist VBS

NEW PORTLAND — Western Mountains Baptist Church will host Vacation Bible School Monday to Friday, June 26 to 30.

All children are welcome to attend for a week of learning God’s Word through playing fun games, making crafts, singing songs and more.

New Sharon church welcomes new pastor

NEW SHARON — The United Methodist Church of New Sharon is excited to welcome a new pastor on July 2.

The church is sad to bid farewell to its present pastor, Karen Garcia, who was with them since 2005. Church members are appreciative of her long time commitment and service to the church and wish her well for the future.

The new pastor, Karen Merrill, who resides in West Gardiner, has an extensive background in education and brings a wealth of knowledge to her pastorship. Church members are excited to meet her at the July 2 service, which starts at 9 a.m.

Daughters of Isabella meet

JAY — The Daughters of Isabella 677 from St. Rose of Lima in Jay held a reception for the 2017 Seniors of Spruce Mountain High School on Friday, June 9.

There were 44 seniors who participated in the Baccalaureate at St. Rose. After Mass, the seniors and their families went to the parish hall where the Daughters had prepared a luncheon.

The Daughters held a monthly business meeting on June 14.

Thinking-of-you cards were sent to Irene Castonguay, Irene Hebert and Mary Castonguay; sympathy, Helen Hobbs; get-well, Diane Maurais and Vicki Cunningham.

Annette Melanson reported that the Daughters Summer Outing for Aug. 2 at the Lotus Blossom Chinese Restaurant on Wilton Road in Farmington. The social hour will be 5 to 6 p.m. with supper being served at 6 p.m. Those who wish to attend should call Annette Melanson or Laurie Gagnepan. Captains should call the Daughters on their card and let them know about the summer outing.
