The Old Town Planning Board will begin its review of the planned expansion of Juniper Ridge Landfill at a preliminary meeting this Tuesday, July 11 at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at city hall.
The purpose of the meeting is to understand city ordinance requirements and to establish procedures the Planning Board will use to review the expansion application. The state granted final approval to the project a few weeks ago, sending the application for review to the city level.
The application for the project is hundreds of pages long, and the application process to date has lasted more than six years. Old Town Code Enforcement David Russell said, however, that he believes the planning board could wrap up its work as soon as mid to late fall if all goes well.
