LEWISTON — As part of its ongoing transformation into a regional health care innovator, Central Maine Healthcare has named Michele A. Talka, SPHR, CEBS Fellow, as its chief human resources officer. She started her position on June 26.

Her main focus will be on strengthening the employee experience as CMHC works to transform its culture into one that is not only patient-centric, but also employee-centric.

Talka’s human resources career spans more than 30 years. She has led transformational change in all aspects of human resources administration — from training and benefits to compensation, recruiting, staffing and payroll — in a wide range of industries, including financial services, insurance and health care. Most recently she was vice president, HR Operations and Total Rewards at Baystate Health System in Springfield, Massachusetts. Prior to that, she was senior director, HR Operations at Tampa, Florida-based Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, which was recognized as one of the area’s “Best Places to Work” from 2008 through 2012.
