PORTLAND — The Boston Red Sox promoted third baseman Rafael Devers to its Triple-A affiliate in Pawtucket on Friday.

At the Double-A level this season, Devers hit .300 for the Portland Sea Dogs this season, smacking 18 homers and driving in 56 runs in 77 games.

Devers, 20, ranked high in the Eastern League in several categories, including homer runs (tied for fourth), RBIs (fifth), extra-base hits (40; second), slugging percentage (.575; third) and total bases (165; second).

Over the past week, Devers played in the Futures Game, in which he went 1-for-4 Saturday, and the Eastern League All-Star game, going 1-for-2 Wednesday.

Devers homered in his first Double-A at-bat, and hit safely in 54 of his 77 starts. From April 29 through May 18, he reached base 19 straight games.
