PARIS — A Buckfield man who was arrested in June 2016 after a dispute over hamburger led to a rampage with his truck pleaded guilty Wednesday to reckless conduct and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.

Dale Bennett, 33, also pleaded guilty to driving to endanger.

When Bennett was arrested in 2016, he was also charged with aggravated assault, aggravated criminal mischief and operating under the influence with two prior convictions, all felony charges. Those charges were dropped as part of the plea deal.

According to Paris police officer Raymond Paar, Bennett and his girlfriend got into an argument while driving home from Lake Pennesseewassee.

One witness said the argument centered on what kind of hamburger to buy at the Save-A-Lot grocery store in Paris.

Paar wrote in an affidavit that Bennett turned his vehicle into a weapon, smashed into several vehicles at a Hill Street residence and terrorized his girlfriend and her family, who were forced to flee and hide behind a tree.

Sentencing on the charges was continued to Aug. 18 at Oxford County Superior Court.
