PORTLAND — Portland Sea Dogs outfielder Jeremy Barfield was named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the week of July 24-30, as announced by the league office Monday.

Barfield batted .444 with six homers and 15 RBIs in seven road games during the stretch. He compiled a .500 on-base percentage and a 1.148 slugging percentage. Barfield is the second Sea Dog to take home the player of the week honors, after current Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers won the award on May 8.

Barfield finished July leading all minor leaguers with 12 homers and 33 RBIs for the month, and both marks were Sea Dogs franchise records for any month. For the season, Barfield is hitting .306 with 18 homers and 48 RBIs in 61 games with the Sea Dogs. He closed out the month with a season-high 10-game hitting streak.

The Red Sox signed Barfield from the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League on May 25 after he hit .274 with nine homers and 21 RBIs in 35 games for Sugar Land.
