CROMWELL, Conn. — Lionel Hector Jones, 83, of Cromwell, Conn., beloved husband of Laura (Morello) Jones for 54 years, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, Aug. 2, at his home.

Born in Gray, he was the son of the late Hector and Dora (Provencher) Jones and attended Lewiston public schools.

Lionel was a proud veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a 55-year member and past commander of the American Legion Post 105 in Cromwell. He worked at Standard Knapp in Portland, and had a long career as a machinist at New England Mold in Cromwell. In his retirement, Lionel enjoyed long walks, making birdhouses, chair-caning and playing cards at the Senior Center.

Along with his wife, Lionel is survived by a son, James Jones and his wife, Elaine, of Cromwell; his sister, Connie Dudzic of Lewiston; and a brother, Paul Jones of Attleboro, Mass.

Besides his parents, his brother, George “Dick” Jones who was from Lewiston, predeceased him.
