DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for all the great information you provide to us on a daily basis. The Village Scrappers Quilt Group of Livermore will be holding a Quilters Yard Sale on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 176 Park St., Livermore Falls, at the log home right after the turn for Route 17. There will be quilting items including a couple of sewing machines and wool for quilting or rug braiding. Rain date will be Sunday, Aug. 20. If you have any quilt-related items you would like to donate, please call Karen at 897-3593 or Doreen at 224-7147. All proceeds go toward fabric, batting and other necessities for charitable work we do during the year. Thank you in advance for any participation.

ANSWER: I think this is a perfect example of serendipity. Just yesterday a letter was published from Heather regarding donating vintage fabric and clothing. This organization may be a match!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In the Winter of 2013 the Pettingill Elementary School building was torn down. Amazingly, the Pettingill School stone sign above the main entrance survived. Friends of Pettingill would like to return the sign to the park by mounting it on a brick base within the flower garden at the corner of College and Little streets. Our fundraising campaign begins with a yard sale on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations are being accepted. Please drop them off anytime this week across from the park at 405 College St., or call Bill Maroldo at 795-1386. You can also make a financial donation at www.lewistonmaine.gov/webstore.

ANSWER: The Friends of Pettingill are mostly former students, parents and neighbors of the old Pettingill Elementary School in Lewiston. This property now serves as a park that can be enjoyed by all. See what volunteers can do when they work together to benefit their community!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to No name, no town regarding gas stations that will serve you (Aug. 9), Berube’s Gas Station on East Avenue in Lewiston will pump your gas for you.

— No name, no town

ANSWER: I double-checked on this and Berube’s, located at 147 East Ave., does indeed supply this service on an as-needed basis. Just pull up to the gas pumps nearest to the station and wave. Someone will come out to assist you!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you to the person/persons that made lunch on June 15 at Ruby Tuesday more of a special day for my friends June and Lois on their birthdays. The bill and tip were paid for all three of us. We did not get to thank them that day because they didn’t want to be known, but I want to thank them now. We will be paying it forward.

— Sandra, Auburn

ANSWER: Love to hear that random acts of kindness are alive and well. Every day is filled with many opportunities to reach out and do something nice for someone!
