RANGELEY — South Strong Road Crew and Friends will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Lakeside Theater on Main Street.

The regular members of the Crew — Sherry Walrath on vocals, Doug Walrath on keyboard, Andy Buckland on bass and Scott Dixon on drums — will welcome guest artists to join in the evening.

Buckland teaches and plays a variety of music — from Celtic to Jazz. Dixon, who grew up on the South Strong Road, began playing drums as a student at Mt. Abram High School. Sherry Walrath was singing in clubs in Detroit and Chicago while still in high school. Doug Walrath started playing jazz piano with groups while he was a student at Rutgers University.

The South Strong Road Crew has roots that stretch back 30 years in Strong.

“We never know for sure who will join us until the day we get together,” Doug Walrath said.

The concert will offer New Orleans-style traditional jazz.

Reserved seats are $20. The event is presented by the Rangeley Friends of the Arts and is sponsored in part by The Red Onion Restaurant.
