NORWAY — Stephens Memorial Hospital will offer a course on “Know How to Use Your Fire Extinguisher.” The instruction is designed to equip residents with the knowledge and skills to detect and extinguish a fire only when it is safe to do so.

Norway Fire Chief Dennis Yates will provide potential life-saving tips that could be useful if a fire breaks out at home. Through hands-on training with fire simulations in a safe learning environment, the professional instructors will educate participants on the basics of fire extinguishers, when and how to use a fire extinguisher, the different types of extinguishers, the different types of fires and fire extinguisher maintenance.

The class will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at the Norway Fire Department, 19 Danforth St.

The class is free, but registration is required.
