Recently, I read the obit for Eric Gooldrup (July 6). When I read it and saw that he died from complications of addiction, I was blown away.

It was very brave and I am sure very difficult to put that in the obituary. I want to thank his survivors for including it, along with a picture and his age (22). Putting a face and an age on addiction may have the impact to lead other addicts to reach out for help.

May God bless the family and friends of that young man. I thank them for reaching out to others in their time of such pain and grief.
