More than 740 runners took part in the Greater L-A Triple Crown 5K series Bridge Run Sunday, the final of three Lewiston-Auburn running events that make up the Triple Crown.

The other two races are the Fit Fest, held June 11, and Emily’s Run, held July 23.

The festivities began with the Kids’ Fun Run, and every child who participate was awarded a medal at the finish line, presented by local firefighters.

During the main event, a crowd cheered on the runners from the sidelines.

Ryan Smith, 22, of Auburn won the men’s race with a time of 15 minutes, 4.6 seconds, breaking the previous record set in 2006 by Ethan Hemphill, 15 minutes, 14 seconds.

In the women’s race, the first to cross the finish line was Sheri Piers of Falmouth and Erica Jesseman of Scarborough, both of whom clocked identical finish times of 18 minutes, 26.8 seconds.
