AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library has announced its programming for teens for September.

Maine Job Corps: Through the Job Corps, teens and new adults ages 16 to 24, could have the opportunity to take part in a life-changing experience that gives the skills needed to succeed in today’s job market that wouldn’t cost anything. Appointments at the library may be made by contacting 207-458-5369.

Teens! Anime Club: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens ages 12 to 18 can get animated over anime by dropping in to talk about their favorite manga, watch the week’s selection of anime, and try their hand at drawing characters. The program includes a snack.

Teens! Tech Talk Tuesday: 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, in the Teen Space. Teens ages 12 to 18 may have a healthy snack and share conversation about technology and devices. 

Tweens in the Teen Space: Noon to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 13, 20 and 27, in the Teen Space. On half-day Wednesdays, sixth-graders are invited to the Teen Space to get a head start on homework, to craft, play board games or hang out. 

Gaming Hour: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, and Friday, Sept. 29, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens ages 12 to 18 can take a break from studying and stop by the library for video games and snacks. The library has an XBox and Wii along with a small collection of games. Teens are welcome to bring their favorites, but only those rated T and E.

Safe Voices Drop In: 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, in the Teen Space. Teens can meet Whitney from Safe Voices each month when she visits to chat about relationships and work on projects.

DIY Teens! Washi Tape Organizers: 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, in the Teen Space. This monthly craft program will help teens get organized by making organizers using cereal boxes and Washi tape. The program will include a healthy snack.

Teens! Matinee Movie: 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens will watch “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” which was chosen by the library for its back-to-school theme. Matthew Broderick plays Ferris Bueller, a high school wise guy who is determined to play hooky from school. He convinces his best friend and his girlfriend to join him, while his principal is as equally determined to catch Ferris in the act. Because this movie is rated PG-13, this program is for teens ages 13 to 18 and will include a snack.

Teens! Homework Help: 2:30 to 4 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 21 and 28, in the Teen Space.  Teens can stop by for help in any subject or work on homework in a supportive environment. The program will include a snack. Teens should note that the Teen Space will not be available for hanging out until 4 p.m. on Homework Help days.

Teens! Throwback Thursdays: 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, in the Teen Space. Teens! One Thursday a month, we’ll break out our favorite childhood games and snacks and have some fun! We have many games on hand, but if you have a favorite game to share, be sure to bring it! Teens, ages 12-18 are invited to join us.

SAPARS Drop In: 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, in the Teen Space. Teens ages 12 to 18 can visit with Hannah from Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Services. Each month, she will discuss and create awareness of teen issues like healthy relationships, sexual assault, bullying, harassment, substance use and abuse, and internet safety. 

Banned Books Week – “Our Right to Read!”: Thursday to Wednesday, Sept. 24 to 30. Teens can stop by for Banned Books Week to take a look at displays and check out a banned or challenged book. 

College Night 2017: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, Androscoggin Community Room. Teens may join admissions representatives from eight colleges and universities as they sit on a panel facilitated by Maggie Davis, formerly of College for Maine Androscoggin. Following the panel discussion and a brief question-and-answer session, there will be a college fair featuring admissions representatives s from 14 Maine schools with information specific to their schools. Registration is requested.
